Why I Chose This Career
As someone who grew up on tacky trails and snowy skin tracks, has a knack for wrangling words, and loves to be surrounded by adventurous individuals, Switchback Travel is the perfect place for me to combine my education, experience with gear, and creative side.
How I Began My Career
My gear testing quest began at the age of 20 when I was lucky enough to get the attention of a few snowboard industry manufacturers and start receiving flowed product. As part of the deal as a young sponsored athlete, I was asked to provide feedback about the gear, whether it was an element I loved or an aspect that needed improvement. While completing my degree in Environmental Science at the University of Nevada, Reno, I learned about the importance of repeatable objective tests as well as the art of translating technical jargon to an easily digestible form for people without formal training in the subject. As a ski resort child, I was born in Utah but have lived in various ski towns throughout the West in Colorado, Montana, Nevada, and California. I have now come full circle and reside in Ogden, Utah, where the snowy granite peaks, lakes, rivers galore, and proximity to the desert keep my soul's cup overflowing.
